Running Foundations, is a medically supervised and planned training course. The goal of "Running Foundations" is to address injuries which have kept you from performing the sport of running and keeps you from achieving your fitness goals. We provide each athlete with a better understanding of their body mechanics and what factors can be contributing to the inability to heal.

Along with addressing the injuries themselves, we are communicating with our athletes so we can instruct them on how to achieve a higher level of fitness without adding extra stress to injured areas.

Each athlete receives an evaluation and workout plan from a Sports Medicine Doctor. The Doctor in conjunction with a Certified Running Coach work on a series of exercises to assist in the recovery process A formal video taped gait analysis is provided to each participate along with a personal consultation with your coach and our Team Sports Medicine Physician. The video allow us to further individualize your workouts based on any compensatory patterns brought on by your injury.

Each participant is given and individual website with a private username and password which will include your workouts and progress notes. Only the Doctors, your Coach and you have access to this information. A Snail's Pace Running Academy along with our Medical Sponsor FORMA look forward to assisting you finally leap the hurdle of unsuccessful treatment or assessment of your injuries.

This eight week program consists of three workouts a week supervised by your Certified Running Coach and monitored by the FORMA Sports Medicine Team. Through the course of the eight week program, you will perform a series of strength exercises and you will be introduced back to minimal running based on your individual recovery.

We will meet Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm at FORMA and Saturday morning at 7am at the Huntington Beach Pier for the Fountain Valley location

COURSES:

If I had to describe the "Running Foundations" program in one word it would be "hope". It is a "dynamic process" that is medically supervised to uncover over time the real issues that keep someone from running. It takes this information and creates a strategic plan to "clean up" the issues. The majority of participants have been able to achieve a higher level of stability and control to get them back on the road. We emphasize the concept of "conditioning the athlete to run" instead of "running the athlete to condition". As a doctor, this program is a "laboratory" that allows us to help in ways that are just not possible in the office.
