Title: Running 301: Monrovia
I currently work at A Snail’s Pace in Monrovia as a sales associate. I love working with and getting to meet customers that share my enthusiasm for running. However, I am looking into getting back to school to do some good with the biology degree I earned from Loyola Marymount University. I joined A Snail’s Pace running academy in August 2011 when I met Bob at the Monrovia store. I became inspired to assist and encourage others to achieve their running goals. I believe ASP running academy provides a very welcoming, educational and supportive environment for first time runners and runners that want to train in a group setting. I began running in 2001 when I ran the 1600 meter and 3200 meter for my high school track team. I played high school and went on to play college soccer until 2007. When I stopped playing soccer long distance running came naturally to me. I ran my first half marathon in 2009 and finished my first full marathon in July of 2011. My running philosophy is to have trust in yourself and know that you are stronger than you think.
Charlie Pickford
Title: Running 301: Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley
Charlie has been a marathon and half marathon coach since 1999. He started off with USAFIT and then joined the A Snail's Pace Running Academy in mid 2006. Since joining the ASPRA, he has coached a wide variety of runners to acheive their long distance running goals. Charlie draws upon this 30 years of endurance running experience to provide each training group member with the information needed to not only become a better runner, but a smarter runner as well. Charlie has a simple coaching philosophy: finish what you start, make the best of what you can do and most of all, have fun doing it.

Emily Kalmbach
Title: Instructor, Running 201, 301: Monrovia
Running and being involved in athletics has always been a part of my life. I was fortunate to grow up with a supportive family and an inspiring mom who ran numerous marathons including Boston Marathon (three times!). Being motivated and inspired to improve and compete, I participated in club soccer playing for Slammers FC, while also running cross-country and track in south Orange County. Hard work paid off and I went on earn an athletic-scholarship to play soccer at the University of Michigan. While in college I discovered teaching and coaching were my passion and I pursued a degree in Physical Education and Health. Currently I am the Physical Education teacher at La Canada Elementary in La Canada-Flintridge and am fortunate enough to share my enthusiasm for physical activity and fitness with children everyday. My long-distance running career began as soon as I was done with collegiate athletics, and I have run three marathons, three half-marathons, several 5Ks, and as a new challenge I am becoming involved in triathlons. I look forward to coaching runners of all levels and encouraging people to create and achieve goals!
Mike Calisher
Title: Instructor, Running 301: Brea
Mike began working for A Snail's Pace in 2006 as part of the Brea sales staff. After a couple years, he made a move to the distribution center where he ensured the timely delivery of all the shops' shoes, apparel, and other goodies. At the end of 2011, he expanded his responsibilities to include website maintenance. Mike started running to soak up some of his spare time, and continued running to clear his head. After running a couple half marathons, he took it upon himself to train for the full 26.2. After a successful and healthy finish, he decided, "Coaching would probably be a pretty good use of my time." So, he helped out with some half marathon groups for a few months before picking up a group of his own. Mike likes hills and insists that, "You have no excuse to complain about hills. They are part of the world, and we live in the world. Run hills."
Bill Ruebsamen
Title: Running 102: Brea
Bill currently works as a Case Management Manager at CNA Insurance. He has been running consistently since 1977 and started running marathons in 1988. He has completed 21 marathons and have run numerous 5K, 10K and half marathon races over the years. Bill began coaching with A Snails Pace starting with the 101 class in January 2011 and then several 102 sessions through the Fall of 2012. He is currently training the 301 LA Marathon 2013 class. Bill says it ia exciting to have people from his beginning running classes join the marathon training group. Coaching provides him the opportunity to give a little of himself back to the running community. He enjoys helping people develop a love of running, challenge themselves and accomplish goals they did not think were possible when they started.

RUNNING 301, the Running Academy Marathon Training Course, is ideal for first time Marathoners, and also works extremely well for veteran marathoners who enjoy the camaraderie of group training, especially on those long training runs.
We recommend that you have either completed RUNNING 201 or a half-marathon in the last six months; or that you have been running at least 3-4 days per week for 4-6 months. You must be able to complete a six-mile run on the first day of the course.
NOTE: Race Registration, including fees, must be done separately by the participant and is not included in
Academy enrollment.

Jerome Boroff
Title: Instructor Running 301, Fountain Valley/Huntington Beach
Jerome currently works as a Senior Art Director for Eclipse Advertising in Burbank. He live in Huntington Beach and has commuted to LA for work for more than 10 years. He began running marathons with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Running with TNT helped him fall in love with the sport and then he became a mentor to many running in the program. Jerome did a total of 5 marathons with TNT and after the last marathon with them, he felt it was his time to move on. He then ran another marathon solo but learned that he missed the camaraderie of running with other people so he joined A Snail's Pace 301. Then 2 years ago Jerome and his wife had a daughter and he was to exhausted to run or do anything. It wasn't until 6 months ago that he decided he needed to start running again for himself. Jerome says, "I enjoy being a mentor to others and sharing running experiences with all. I love to hear personal stories of hardship and joy and look forward to people accomplishing their goals".
